Taylor Elementary School is closing at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday because of an increase in the number of kids staying home sick. Buses will pick up who kids who typically the ride the bus at that time.
Grand Mesa Middle School closed at noon on Wednesday because of increased absences at the school.
According to a letter School District 51 sent to parents, all extra curricular activities are also canceled.
Meanwhile, D51 says Mt. Garfield Middle School re-closed Wednesday at 12:30. It had re-opened Wednesday morning after being closed half of the day Monday and all day Tuesday because of illness.
All three schools will remain closed the rest of the week. Class will resume after Thanksgiving Break on December 3rd.
Rocky Mountain Elementary School and Juniper Ridge Community School had already closed for Wednesday.
Mesa County Public Health believes norovirus is mostly likely to blame for the recent closures. They say vomiting and diarrhea are the primary symptoms.
Health officials are encouraging everyone to wash their hands, not share personal items and to stay home from school and other public places for at least 24 hours after your symptoms stop.
