It’s February 27, and that means it’s time for another Pokémon Presents to celebrate the series’ anniversary. It’s Pokémon’s 28th year in 2024, and the announcements this year were underwhelming compared to previous years where The Pokémon Company made announcements like Legends: Arceus and Scarlet and Violet. First up was an announcement of three Tera Raid events in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, including Venusaur, Blastoise, and the return of Charizard. The events will be held from February 28 to March 5, March 6 to 12, and March 13 to 17, respectively.
Captain Pikachu is coming to Pokémon Go as part of a collaboration with the Pokémon Horizons anime. This little guy has a captain hat and knows Volt Tackle, which is new to Pokémon Go. Some Scarlet and Violet Pokémon are also joining the game, including Charcadet, Ceruledge, and Armarouge. Lastly, if you take some photos with the Snapshot feature, anime protagonists Liko and Roy will show up in the filter.
The sleep-tracking app Pokémon Sleep is getting Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, which will all be rolling out periodically. Raikou will launch first in March, with the other two set to come at a later date.
Starting February 28, Geeta and Glimmora will join Pokémon Masters EX as sync pairs. Silver and Tyranitar will follow on March 1. A master sync pair made up of Gladion and Magerna will also be added to the game. The stream also included an announcement for a photo creator that lets you craft and edit photos of different characters you’ve collected.
Pokémon Cafe ReMix is hosting an event that adds Gimmighoul Coins to certain puzzles while also allowing you to add any of the Scarlet and Violet starters to your staff. The event runs until March 14, and gives you a chance to have Koraidon and Miraidon on your staff, as well.
Miraidon, Falinks, and Ceruledge are coming to the MOBA. Miraidon is available now, Falinks will launch in April, and Ceruledge doesn’t have a date yet. If you don’t want to buy Miraidon’s license, an event is currently ongoing in Unite that will let you unlock the character for free. In the meantime, you can play as Miraidon for three days by using the gift code POKEDAY24.
A new app allowing you to open digital trading card packs is coming to mobile devices. Some of cards will include full-screen, immersive art. It will launch in 2024. It is a collaboration between The Pokémon Company, the TCG company Creatures, and DeNA, who makes Pokémon Masters EX.
Closing out the show was the biggest surprise of the stream: Pokémon Legends Z-A. While Game Freak didn’t show any footage of the game itself, the teaser included blueprints of Lumiose City, a metropolis in the Kalos region featured in Pokémon X and Y. The implication is that the game will focus around the development of the city, and likely other major historical moments in the Kalos region. Pokémon Legends: Arceus was essentially an origin story for the Sinnoh region featured in Diamond and Pearl, so if Z-A follows this formula, we may see some major moments in the Pokémon timeline unfold.
The game will launch on Switch in 2025.
