Nintendo has announced the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Open, which will take place this year on Mario Day--March 10. The top 310 players who compete across the day will be awarded 1000 My Nintendo Gold Points, equivalent to $10.

The tournament will run from 12pm to 6pm PST on March 10, and will be open to anyone who has access to a Nintendo Switch with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Players who want to enter can search the tournament code to take part in the race.

  • Mode: 150cc Race
  • Teams: No Teams
  • Items: Normal Items
  • COM: Normal COM
  • Vehicles: All Vehicles
  • Smart Steering: No
  • Frequency: Fixed Period
  • Race Count: 24 Races
  • Group Shuffling: Every 4th Match
  • Player Rating: Any
  • Public/Private: Code Required

To enter, players will have to select Tournaments from the Online Play menu, and then search by code with the following tournament code: 3409-7365-4571.

If you want to join in on the tournament and you don't have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership, Nintendo is offering a special 14-day free trial for MAR10 day, double the length of its standard free trial. The offer is valid from now until March 17.

Nintendo celebrates MAR10 day each year in March, which usually sees discounts on Mario-related titles, merchandise, and hardware, as well as themed events and sometimes game announcements and updates.
