This week's Nintendo Direct was packed with announcements, but one of the most unexpected was the reveal of Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports, which is slated to launch this fall for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

The zany Looney Tunes sports games of the '90s were pretty enjoyable, and it's been a long time since a proper Looney Tunes sports game released in North America. The most recent iteration, Galactic Sports, was a Vita exclusive that never made it out of PAL regions, so it's nice to see a new family-friendly arcade sports game in the pipeline.

Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports will feature a collection of mini-games based on basketball, soccer, golf, and tennis, but with unique gameplay twists like powerups and special moves. The game includes solo and multiplayer modes, and each player will be able to control iconic Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and more. Unsurprisingly, Wacky World of Sports is reminiscent of Mario sports games, such as the Wii's Mario Sports Mix and 3DS' Mario Sports Superstars as well the entries on Switch: Mario Golf: Super Rush, Mario Tennis Aces, and Mario Strikers: Battle League.

If you enjoy Mario sports games and like Looney Tunes--or are simply sad Mario Hoops 3-on-3 never received a sequel--you can preorder Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports now on consoles.
