Rockstar Games has heavily hinted the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto game will arrive on Tuesday, December 5. It will appear that day at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET, Rockstar said in a social media post and confirmed with GameSpot.
A teaser image suggests that the rumors were right and that the next GTA could be set in GTA's version of Miami--Vice City--given the palm trees and seagulls in the teaser image. The teaser does not mention GTA by name, but in all likelihood, that's what this image is referring to.
An email from Rockstar Games states that this will be "trailer 1" for the next GTA game. Whether or not GTA 6 shows up two days later at The Game Awards on December 7 remains to be seen.
GTA 6 is rumored to feature two protagonists--a brother and sister--and reportedly has a focus on heists. The game taking place in Miami, or Vice City, has been rumored for some time now.
Many of the rumors about GTA 6 stem from a massive leak in September 2022 that revealed early footage, images, and tons of information about the game and what players can expect.
A new GTA game returning to a familiar setting would be nothing new. GTA V, for example, took place in a fictionalized version of Los Angeles, which was also the setting for GTA: San Andreas.
GTA 6 is one of the most heavily hyped games of all time, and it has huge shoes to fill. GTA V sold more than 190 million copies to become one of the best-selling games of all time. Its multiplayer mode, GTA Online, has helped the game enjoy a long and successful lifecycle. It is still getting new updates, including one this week that adds a big new feature, animals, and brings back a character from GTA 4.
