Short answer

Samsung News is scheduled to shut down on December 21, 2026 at 00:00 UTC in notices reported from India and South Korea. SamMobile's October 29 report reproduces the in-app announcement. That is a concrete date for the reported markets, while a worldwide shutdown on the identical terms remains something to confirm through local Samsung communications.

What is being discontinued?

The report concerns Samsung's news aggregation service on Galaxy devices, including its app, widget and home-screen feed. It does not mean Samsung's corporate newsroom or all news applications on a Galaxy phone are disappearing. The similarly named services are easy to confuse when a short headline omits the word app.

According to the notice account, personalization and user information will be deleted after discontinuation, subject to applicable retention requirements. That is not a claim that every file on a phone will be erased. We have not inspected a reader's device, account or an in-app notice in every region. A separate Samsung Community user account supports that people are seeing notices, without establishing a universal rollout policy.

Why is it trending now?

A service-ending message naturally creates practical questions: when the feed stops, whether a familiar widget will still update and what can replace it. The dated report gives this query an identifiable recent development. The captured trend does not prove which notification or article drove each search.

Regional scope is the most useful qualification. A notice shown on one phone can be valid without proving that every Galaxy device receives the same change at the same moment. Start with the message actually supplied to your installation. Predictions that a service will eventually close elsewhere should remain predictions until the provider confirms them.

Read the shutdown at the right scope

What people are looking for

Will my phone stop working? The reported change is to a news service and its content delivery. It does not establish that the phone, mobile connection or unrelated applications will cease operating. Keep the affected service named when explaining the change to someone else.

What should I check first? Open the app's own announcements and note the date, region and any account-specific instructions. Save a copy of information you need for reference. Do not assume an article about another market reproduces every condition relevant to your device.

Can I use a different feed? Review the home-screen media-page options actually available in your software and region, or use a news application or website you choose. Changing a feed and transferring a personalization profile are different operations; we have not verified an automatic migration between providers.

Does removal require a factory reset? Nothing in the reviewed notice account calls for wiping a device. A widget can be removed through the controls offered by the installed launcher. If its menus differ from a guide, use Samsung's documentation for the exact model and software rather than reset the phone to match a screenshot.

What happens next?

We will check on November 7 for explicit notices in additional markets, revised dates or a documented replacement arrangement. A meaningful update should identify the market and service rather than infer a worldwide policy from one message. We will also revisit the article before December 21 to keep the practical deadline clear.
